Advocacy & Leadership
Dr. Anderson has always been committed to the belief that her responsibility includes prevention and treatment of disease, as well as education, advocacy, and leadership. In 2012, she was awarded recognition by the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for her commitment to scholarly excellence and medical education. She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Dakota and values the opportunity to educate and inspire a new generation of physicians.
Dr. Anderson has worked with various community organizations to provide education around pediatric health and wellness, and to develop partnerships in children's health advocacy. During her residency training at the University of Hawaii, she started a medicolegal partnership: working in conjunction with local attorneys to develop a comprehensive program for medical support, legal support, and advocacy for children and their families. She served as Pediatrician Consultant for a National HRSA grant aimed to solidify early childhood comprehensive systems around social emotional development. In 2017, she became one of North Dakota's first cohort of trainers in the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Master Trainer program aimed at building a local group of experts who are trained and prepared to return to the community and share knowledge on ACEs and Resilience Science.
Dr. Anderson understands the importance of legislative advocacy. She was North Dakota Medical Association Representative in 2015-2016 on the Senate Bill SB2367 Task Force on Substance Exposed Infants. She has testified on a number of legislative bills related to children's physical and mental health and safety.
Dr. Anderson has been very active in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She is president of the North Dakota chapter of AAP, AAP Midwest Regional Champion of Diversity and Inclusion, and former Board Member of the Section on Integrative Medicine of the AAP.
